Out of a collection of talented nominees, Ryan Bingham came out as the top winner during last night's Ninth Annual Americana Music Association Honors & Awards Show at Nashville's Ryman Auditorium. In addition to accepting the honor of Artist of the Year, the singer-songwriter took home a trophy for Song of the Year for "The Weary Kind (Theme from Crazy Heart)," which was co-written by T Bone Burnett and performed by Bingham on the film's soundtrack.

Hosted by Jim Lauderdale, The Honors and Awards ceremony was part of the 11th Annual Americana Festival and Conference, a musical showcase and artist networking event that continues through Saturday, September 11. On top of performances by John Mellencamp, The Avett Brothers, Rosanne Cash and Lucinda Williams, the night ended with a surprise 10-song, half-hour concert from former Led Zeppelin vocalist Robert Plant and his 'Band of Joy' with Patty Griffin, Buddy Miller, and Darrell Scott.
