Willie Nelson Fined $500 for Pot Bust
Willie Nelson has been fined $500 for his November 26, 2010 arrest, according to CNN.
The country icon was picked up after Border Patrol agents smelled pot wafting from his tour bus at checkpoint in Sierra Blanca, Texas.
In addition to the fine, the plea deal reduced the charge from marijuana possession to possession of drug paraphernalia. Also, if Willie avoids the law for 30 days, the charge will drop from his criminal record.
According to his lawyer, Willie is "very happy" that the case settled without his presence in court. "He worries about it," attorney Joe Turner said. "It's not just a speed bump to him. It hasn't been a holiday for him."
"The truth is there are a lot of people who had access to the tour bus, and it's not an open-and-shut case," Joe continued. "I'd like to think it was because he had a good lawyer."
