Sugarland was among the artists performing at a kick-off concert for the Democratic National Convention in Denver over the weekend. However, they wouldn't say whether or not they supported Democratic Presidential hopeful Barack Obama. According to Jennifer Nettles, the duo's concern for the environment was the reason they played the event, which was organized by environmental activist Laurie David. Prior to the show, Nettles told AP, "This is the first time that a political convention of any sort has been surrounded with the awareness of environmental issues. So that feels like it's on the cutting edge." Kristian Bush added, "Yeah, and regardless of what political affiliation you want to align yourself with, this is an issue. It's real, no matter which side you decide to attack it from." Sheryl Crow and Dave Matthews were also on the bill.

Meanwhile, Sugarland has already found another cause worth playing for as they join Reba McEntire and Kid Rock as the newest additions to the lineup of talent performing on Jerry Lewis' Annual Labor Day MDA Telethon.
