Who's Who Where Are You Tonight? Nashville hosts 40th Annual Country Music Awards
Broadcasting live tonight on ABC, from Nashville's Gaylord Entertainment Center, Brooks & Dunn host the 40th Annual CMA's. They will perform their hit "Building Bridges" as well as stand for 6 award categories, claiming the most nominations along with Brad Paisley. Kenny Chesney, Keith Urban, and Carrie Underwood are up for four nominations each, though Mr. Urban will be missed at tonight's event. His primary focus is obviously in recovery rather than raking in the awards.
Plenty of artists are eagerly awaiting the ceremony. Dolly Parton and Rascal Flatts are nominated thrice each, with some of my personal favorites following with two nominations each: Alan Jackson, Faith Hill, Gretchen Wilson, Sugarland, Little Big Town, Big & Rich, and Miranda Lambert.
The stage is lit and carpets are rolled out, anticipating the arrival of the rhinestone studded cast of country music's finest performers.
Vince Gill will perform "What you Give Away" with Sheryl Crow and his wife and child, Amy Grant and Jenny Gill. Other highlights include performances by Gretchen Wilson and John Rich, The Wreckers, Jason Aldean, and Martina McBride. Presenters include Barbara Mandrell, LeeAnn Rimes and Richie Sambora.
George Strait will be honored and inducted into the Hall of Fame along with Harold Bradley and Sonny James.
Sugarland started the festivities earlier today by performing on "Good Morning America" with Jon Bon Jovi. If that is any indication, tonight's ceremony should be full of surprises.
