Travis Tritt is set to play the role of Eddie Waters in the upcoming movie "Fishers of Men."

The country music star is currently in his home state of Georgia shooting scenes for the movie.

The director of the film, Joshua Mills, tells Georgia's WALB News that "Travis is obviously very excited to play  the role. We've been talking to him off and on over the past few days about it. And it's definitely created a buzz around here. He's got a huge fan base in country music as well as the south."

After considering Sam Elliot and Alan Jackson, the production team decided on Travis Tritt for the part. "Fishers of Men" will be released in January.
