Marty Stuart will celebrate his 50th birthday with an hour-long party at the Grand Ole Opry. All the fun will be broadcast on GAC's Opry Live on Saturday, September 27 at 9 PM, ET. Keith Urban will be among those helping Marty mark this special occasion, along with Stuart's wife and Grand Ole Opry legend Connie Smith. Several surprise guests are also expected. Marty appears to be upbeat about hitting this milestone age. He says, "I love that old gospel song that says, 'When you're trying to make a hundred, ninety-nine-and-a-half won't do.' In the light of that, 50 means that I'm just getting warmed up. I've heard that saying, 'fabulous at 50,' and I'm going to try to live up to that." Stuart will also mark his recommitment to the Opry by revitalizing dressing room #14, which previously belonged to his longtime friend, the late Porter Wagoner. Marty sketched the designs himself, and handpicked furniture, fabric and memorabilia. Decorations will include photographs by renowned photographer Les Leverett and fully rhinestoned tapestries by Nudie and Manuel protégé, Jamie Custom Tailor of North Hollywood, California.
