Lady Antebellum Reacts to First ACM Nomination for "Top New Group"
"Can't believe it. I'm going to Disney World," said Charles Kelley of Capitol Records Nashville trio Lady Antebellum after hearing the news this morning that the band received their very first major award nomination - Academy of Country Music's "Top New Group."
"Dave Haywood exclaimed "This is crazy! I can't believe it. This past year has been absolutely unbelievable and it just keeps getting better."
Hillary Scott was over the moon, saying "We are absolutely speechless and humbled by this nomination! I'm also so excited to be a part of such an amazing industry, filled with people who are not only brilliantly talented, but supportive and kind to newcomers like us! Thank you! This is truly an honor and I CAN'T WAIT FOR VEGAS!!!!!"
This nomination only adds to the trio's long list of recent accomplishments including being named one of Billboard's "New Faces to watch in 2008" (the only country artist to make the list), MSN Music chose them to be in their "Class of 2008", The Boston Globe named the trio one of the "Eight to Watch in "08", Country Weekly chose the band as "Who's Hot in 2008", and Nashville Lifestyles named Lady Antebellum "the next BIG thing."
The trio's debut single "Love Don't Live Here" is currently #16 on R&R and #18 on Mediabase. The trio's self-titled debut album will be released April 15. The band, just coming off Martina McBride's Waking Up Laughing tour, will hit the road again this spring opening for artists such as Kenny Chesney, Taylor Swift, Tim McGraw, Carrie Underwood and Little Big Town.
Tune in to the 43rd Annual ACM Awards, May 18, 2008, live at 8pm EST on CBS.
