Believe it or not, its been six years since Faith Hill has released new music.

Being a devoted mother and wife of three, it's only natural that the country superstar's priorities have sort of shifted over the past few years. While she can't even believe that it's been so long since her last album, 2005's Fireflies, she definitely can justify her time away from the studio.

"I didn't even realize it had been that long, to be honest with you, until someone told me that," Faith tells CMT. "And I even argued with them! At the time it was five years, and I said, 'It's not been five years since I had a record!' Yea, it has been! Bt that's okay. I want it to be really good and represent me. I want it to be real."

The Grammy-winning singer reveals that she hasn't forgotten about her passion for music and has been actively searching for songs that inspire her.

"I've actually been in the studio a couple of times in the last six years. I'm just trying to find that spark, that thing that's exciting for me ... and that feels inspired and true and honest, from an honest place. It's been a creative journey...But no one's really heard anything. But that's going to be the nice part: to actually get it finished and get it out there for people to hear."

Raising her three girls - Gracie (13), Maggie (11) and Audrey (8) - with husband, Tim McGraw, has been Faith's main focus for the past several years, but she admits that she misses singing and performing.

"I'm the mother of three daughters, and a wife, and that's what my priority is. I work on records when I can ... I want to challenge myself. Just exploring, trying to figure it out. But I am working. It's important to me. I've been singing all of my life. I do miss bring out there. But it's coming."

There's no word on an actual release date for Faith's new album, but we'll be sure to keep you updated!
