Along with Fred Foster and Willie Nelson, Kris Kristofferson was recently honored with the seventh annual Leadership Music Dale Franklin Award.

The songwriter's music can also be heard on a new album featuring legendary artists Johnny Cash and Ray Charles. Although it was left out of the project, the pair recorded Kristofferson's "Why Me" for an album almost 30 years ago, and the duet is now resurfacing for the first time. The new album, Rare Genius: The Undiscovered Masters, includes a few unheard tracks from Charles and is the icon's third posthumous release. The album hits stores on October 26.
