    tim

Tim McGraw wasn't too happy when his record label released a third Greatest Hits package earlier this month. Yesterday, Tim released a statement in response to Curb Records releasing a CD without his involvement: "I am saddened and disappointed that my label chose to put out another hits album instead of new music. I've only had one studio album since my last hits package. It has to be just as confusing to the fans as it is to me. I had no involvement in the creation or presentation of this record. Sure I love the songs and I don't want to take anything away from all the creative people who were a part of making those records. But the whole concept is an embarrassment to me as an artist. In the spirit of an election year, I would simply say to my fans, 'I'm Tim McGraw and I don't approve their message.'"

Sugarland's Jennifer Nettles has launched an exciting new charity event called Common Thread. It will celebrate Jennifer's philosophy of balanced living through music, yoga, eco-consciousness and giving back. Common Thread will take place November 20-22 in Beaver Creek, Colorado, Aspen, Colorado and Santa Fe, New Mexico. Nettles shares, "I'm hoping Common Thread will be a multi-genre diverse bill under the 'common thread' of activism and community organization. I do believe that one action can cause a ripple and make a difference. So, if you inspire some of your fans to go out into their own communities and effect change, then that's success." Artists joining Sugarland for the inaugural dates include Amos Lee and the Indigo Girls' Emily Saliers. Tickets go on sale this Saturday morning via ticketmaster.com. A limited number of VIP tickets for each performance are available and will include a silent auction champagne reception with the artists. All proceeds will be divided and donated to each artists' charity of choice. Jennifer will give her share to the American Cancer Society, while Kristian Bush will send his to the American Liver Foundation.

    miley

Billy Ray Cyrus is okay with his 15-year-old daughter Miley Cyrus dating 20-year-old model/aspiring musician (and former Nashville Star contestant) Justin Gaston. Billy Ray recently told Access Hollywood, "He actually reminds me a lot of myself when I was 20 years old and I was living and searching for the dream. He's got a great heart and soul, and a lot of determination. I think that's the true measure of a man, is when you measure his heart." Last weekend, Justin serenaded Miley at her pre-Sweet 16 bash at Disneyland.

    def

Taylor Swift teamed up with rock legends Def Leppard last night at the Roy Acuff Theater in Nashville to tape an installment of CMT Crossroads. Before the show, the group joined Taylor for a press conference to talk about the pairing that Swift pursued for over a year. According to Taylor, country music will always be her home, but working with Def Leppard has been awesome: "I've always been so proud to be a country artist and to live in Nashville and be able to be a part of this incredible town and the music that comes out of it. And, you know, as far as the whole crossover thing, I'd really rather look at it as spillover. I live in Nashville; I wear cowboy boots when I perform. I'm just really lucky to have more stations playing my music now. And it's just really cool to be able to pair up with my favorite rock band and get to do a show." The CMT Crossroads episode featuring Taylor and Def Leppard will air on November 7.

    leann

LeAnn Rimes and her husband Dean Sheremet were cornered by paparazzi over the weekend in Malibu. LeAnn talked with the photographers while walking to her car and commented on Jessica Simpson's new music and her own stable marriage. When asked about Jessica's song "Come On Over," Leann told TMZ that she has heard it, noting, "If that's what she's all about and she's serious about country music then go for it. She's a Texas girl." When asked about the alleged tiff between Carrie Underwood and Jessica, LeAnn said she didn't pay attention, adding, "I've been married for seven years, so... we're boring. We're not in high school anymore." [via AristoMedia]
