Carrie Underwood isn't shedding tears over her recent split from Chace Crawford. At the Idol Gives Back taping in Hollywood Sunday, Carrie told Extra, "We broke up over text, so it's like 'peace out.' It was completely mutual, we're both fine." She said they haven't talked in a while, but added, "I don't dislike him. So it's no big deal." Underwood said their relationship "just didn't work... and we both knew it didn't work and [there are] no hard feelings at all whatsoever." Carrie claimed that dating in the public eye is "difficult... because people always make a lot bigger deal of things than they actually are." Usmagazine.com recently reported Underwood and Crawford's break up was because of their conflicting schedules.
According to the AP, Carrie chose to perform George Michael's "Praying for Time" at the Idol Gives Back charity event instead of one of her own songs. She explained backstage, "It's not about self-promoting. It's not about singing your latest single. It's not about trying to be the most downloaded whatever on iTunes. It's all about getting people to call in and do something." The star-studded gala also features celebrity appearances by Miley Cyrus, Billy Crystal, Robin Williams, Reese Witherspoon, Brad Pitt and Mariah Carey, among others.
Beneficiaries this year include the Global Fund, Malaria No More, Children's Health Fund, Save the Children, Children's Defense Fund and Make It Right, which is Pitt's campaign to help New Orleans recover from Hurricane Katrina.
Idol Gives Back airs tomorrow at 7:30 PM, ET on FOX.
