After 17 years of marriage, Billy Ray Cyrus and Tish Cyrus - also known as pop star Miley Cyrus' parents - have decided to call it quits.

The divorce papers were filed by Billy Ray yesterday in Tennessee, which cite irreconcilable differences.

Billy Ray and Tish have three kids together: teen icon Miley, 17, Braison, 16, and Noah, 10. Billy Ray also adopted Trace and Brandi, Tish's children from a previous relationship. In the papers, Billy Ray asks for shared custody of their three kids, and for an equitable division of their marital assets.

In a statement, the couple shared, "As you can imagine, this is a very difficult time for our family. We are trying to work through some personal matters. We appreciate your thoughts and prayers.
