Carrie Underwood has been no disappointment to the American Idol name. Carrie received two American Music Award nominations on Wednesday (Sept. 13) for favorite new breakthrough artist and favorite female country artist.

Favorite female country artist nominees also include Faith Hill and Gretchen Wilson.

This is a huge accomplishment for a small town girl living in of Oklahoma only couple years ago and now is a huge break though star!

Gretchen Wilson will be performing Nov 8, as Olympic ice skaters perform to her songs at Philadelphia’s Wachovia Center.The event is being taped for a two-hour ice skating special, Gretchen Wilson’s Country on Ice.

Skaters confirmed for the special include four-time world champion Kurt Browning, two-time Olympic medalist Irina Slutskava, five-time U.S. champion Todd Eldredge and three-time U.S. titlist Michael Weiss.

The show will air on NBC December 23, 2006.

Nickel Creek has decided at the end of 2007 the band will split to work on solo projects. Before they say bye a compilation CD will be set for release Nov. 14, Nickel Creek: Reasons Why (The Very Best) will include fan favorites from the trio’s three albums for Sugar Hill Records, several exclusive live tracks and all of their music videos.

Don’t worry Nickel Creek fans the band will continue their tour and give fans something to look forward to with new projects!

The Dixie Chicks will release a documentary, in early October, about their attacks on Bush that started in 2003 London concert. The film Dixie Chicks: Shut up and Sing is already receiving good reviews along with their new album.

“[The filmmakers] have crafted an insightful and heartfelt look at the experiences of the Dixie Chicks over the last three years,” writes Phil Gallo on variety.com

The Chicks continue to bash Bush and receive radio airplay throughout Texas. Even after country radio in Texas said they would no longer play Dixie Chicks songs.

Gretchen Wilson is putting on a concert event, recorded from Atlanta ’s Arena at Gwinnett Center on April 5th, includes songs from her GRAMMY-nominated album, All Jacked Up. Gretchen performs hits such as “Redneck Woman,” “Here For The Party,” and “When I Think About Cheatin’.” This is a great way for fans who can’t catch her tour, and still want the concert experience.

Tim McGraw and Faith Hill have the highest grossing country music tour of all-time, the most attended concert tour this year, in any musical genre, at 33 venues across the country, the only country music tour to ever sell-out three consecutive nights at The STAPLES Center in Los Angeles, the highest grossing concert tour of the year, in any musical genre, at 26 concert venues across the country, the most attended country music tour ever at 17 concert venues, including New York’s Madison Square Garden and at press time The Soul2Soul II Tour is the top grossing tour in any musical genre for 2006.

The couple is on fire between raising a family, movies, Grammy awards, and touring they are one of the strongest couples in Hollywood.

Steve Holy has had a rough couple of years trying to break a Top 10 Single. His last top 10 single was in 2001 with “Good Morning Beautiful,” which stayed number one for five weeks!

The Dallas native’s single “Brand New Girlfriend” the album was the second bestselling one in country music its first week out. Holy can’t remember which pitch meeting he was at when he first heard “Brand New Girlfriend,” but he remembers he liked it instantly. “It could have been my life story,” he says. Then he amends the statement. “I won’t say it was my life story, but it had all my sarcasm. It was almost as if this song was written for me. When I heard it originally, I was like, ‘Man, this is it. This is a smash.’”

Rascal Flatts visited Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt on September 12. The group perforemed an acoustic set for 35 children. Lyric Street Records, Rasacal Flatts label, was also able to provide some very popular Disney characters for the kids. The group took pictures, signed aurographs, and vitied childrens hosptial rooms after completeing their set. September 22 they will be performing in Nashville and will donate proceeds to the hospital.
