Scotty McCreery debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Top 200 and Top Country Albums charts with Clear As Day, making him the youngest male in history to open at the top of the all-genre chart with a debut release. This is also the highest five-week album sales of any solo country artist in 2011.
With first-week sales totaling 196,739, he is the first new country artist this year to debut at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. He has the second-highest debut week for a new artist in all genres in 2011, behind rapper J. Cole.
He is also the first American Idol winner in eight years to land his debut album atop the Billboard 200 and the first country male singer from the show to do so. This is the first debut by a new country artist to top 100,000 in first-week sales since Carrie Underwood's in 2005.
"My hopes were just to go out there and have fun and let people know that the album was out there. Everybody hopes for the number one, but you can never really expect it. To see it up there is pretty incredible," says Scotty, who turned 18 on Sunday. "It's a very good birthday present! I can't think of anything to top it!"
An estimated 15,000 people attended his Album Release Party Homecoming Concert and Birthday Celebration that was held at the Time Warner Cable Music Pavillion at Walnut Creek in Raleigh, N.C. He was presented with a gold record by Mercury Nashville and Interscope during the event to celebrate achieving a gold certification (500,000 copies) in digital sales for "I Love You This Big."
Scotty will sing the national anthem at Game One of the World Series on Oct. 19. For additional news and updates, visit Scotty McCreery's official website!

Underwood is featured on "Remind Me," written by Paisley, Chris DuBois and Kelley Lovelace, while Shelton sings on "Don't Drink The Water," written by Paisley and Tim Owens.
Additionally, actor/director Clint Eastwood has a small spoken role and also whistles on "Eastwood," a Western-styled instrumental that also features a spoken introduction by Paisley's sons, Huck and Jasper.
Sheryl Crow, Marty Stuart and Carl Jackson also make guest appearances on "Life's Railway to Heaven," a traditional gospel song.
"Old Alabama," the current single from the album, includes performances by the three founding members of Alabama - Randy Owen, Jeff Cook and Teddy Gentry.
In just three weeks, "Old Alabama" has already climbed to No. 18 on Billboard's country songs chart. Keep it up, Brad!

Miranda Lambert has had to cancel her upcoming tour in Australia due to illness.
The country cutie was supposed to kick off the tour opening for Alan Jackson in Melbourne on Friday, but came down with a respiratory infection, forcing her to withdraw from the dates.
Obviously disappointed, Miranda stated on her website, "I was very much looking forward to Australia with Alan Jackson and performing for all the music lovers down under."
Alan's first tour of Australia is reportedly the fastest-selling country music tour in that country's history, having sold out within hours of being put on sale.
Jasmine Rae and McAlister Kemp will replace Miranda in the opening spot as she takes time to recover, while Australian country star John Williamson will take her place at the CMC Rocks the Hunter this weekend.
Miranda, whose single "Heart Like Mine" is climbing charts, is still scheduled to perform at the Houston Livestock and Rodeo on March 16.
Feel better, Miranda!
