Sara Watkins, (born June 8, 1981) is a fiddler, vocalist, and songwriter, and is one third of the contemporary bluegrass/folk band Nickel Creek. Her brother Sean Watkins, also a member of Nickel Creek, plays guitar and sings in the group. Sean and Sara have been with Nickel Creek since its beginning in 1989. Nickel Creek recently participated in a project dubbed Mutual Admiration Society, a collaboration with former Toad The Wet Sprocket singer Glen Phillips. They were joined on a 2004 tour by the stellar rhythm section of John Paul Jones (Led Zeppelin) on bass and Pete Thomas (Elvis Costello & the Attractions/Imposters) on drums. Sara also performs with her brother Sean in a group called Watkins Family Hour, which she has been doing the past few years. The Watkins Family Hour usually is the Watkins duo with special guests, occasionally performing at the Largo. In 2006 she toured with the violinist Darol Anger. Sara Watkins is the debut solo album by Sara Watkins. It was released by Nonesuch Records on April 7, 2009.

Sara Ullrika Watkins (born June 8, 1981) is an American singer-songwriter and fiddler. Watkins debuted in 1999 as the fiddler of the progressive bluegrass group Nickel Creek, which consisted of herself, her elder brother Sean, and mandolinist Chris Thile. As a band, they are notable for three wide-released albums: Nickel Creek, This Side, and Why Should the Fire Die?. Aside from singing and fiddling, she can play the ukulele and the guitar.
