Bare, Jr. was nominated for a Grammy at the age of five and has lived a life of music. His recordings range from the more conventional alt rock of Bare Jr to slightly more traditional recordings under his own name to his more rocking and improvisational work with the Young Criminals' Starvation League (featuring a rotating cast of members which has included players from Lambchop, . . . And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead, and My Morning Jacket).

Bare is the son of country musician Bobby Bare. In 1974 ? when Bare Jr. was only eight ? they were both nominated for a Grammy for the song "Daddy What If." In the 1990s, Bobby led the roots-rock outfit, Bare Jr. They released two major label records, 1998's, Boo-Tay and 2000's Brainwasher.
He currently plays with the Young Criminals Starvation League, an ever-changing group of musicians. They have released three studio albums, an EP, and a live album.
