One of Brazil's most famous exports is Sepultura, who rose to become one of the most famous death/thrash metal bands in the world.Founding members were Max Cavalera (vocals/guitar), Igor Cavalera (drums), Jairo T. (lead guitar) and Paulo Jr (bass).Jairo T. left the band in 1986, he was replaced by Andreas Kisser.Founding member and vocalist Max Cavalera left the band over a disagreement in 1996 and started the band Soulfly. Derrick Green took his place in 1997.Founding member and drummer Igor Cavalera left the band in 2006 due to incompatibility of thoughts with the other members. Jean Dolabella replaced him shorty after.

Sepultura was formed by Max Cavalera (guitars and vocals), his younger brother Igor Cavalera (drums), Paulo Pinto (bass) and Jairo Guedes (guitars).

Sepultura (Portuguese for "grave") is a Brazilian heavy metal band from Belo Horizonte, formed in 1984. The band was a major force in the death metal, thrash metal and ultimately groove metal realms during the late 1980s and early 1990s, with their later experiments melding nu metal, hardcore punk, industrial music and extreme metal.
Sepultura have released eleven studio albums so far, the latest being A-Lex (2009). Their most successful records are Arise (1991), Chaos A.D. (1993), and Roots (1996), each of them having surpassed the one million mark worldwide. Sepultura has sold over 15 million units worldwide, gaining multiple gold and platinum records across the globe, including in countries as diverse as France, Australia, Indonesia, United States, Cyprus, and their native Brazil.
