Cascada was formed in Berlin, Germany in 2004. The eurodance (a genre of upbeat, synthesizer-driven dance music that originated in Europe in the early 1990's) act consists of singer Natalie Horler and DJ/producers DJ Manian and Yanou. In the early 2000's, Natalie (born to English expatriate parents residing in Germany) began doing studio work for DJ's throughout Berlin, where she eventually met Berlin natives Yanou and DJ Manian. The trio hit it off, and began recording together as Cascade.
The trio changed their name to Cascada in 2002 (their original name Cascade was taken, and the trio was threatened with legal action) and released two EP's (Miracle, Bad Boy) on German label Balloon Records in 2004. Popular in the European underground electronica scene, Cascada caught the attention of New York City-based dance label Robbins Entertainment (DJ Sammy, Reina, Ian Van Dahl), who released their first single "Miracle" in 2004. "Miracle" hit the 8th spot on the Billboard Hot Dance Airplay chart in 2004, and as a result Robbins greenlighted the release of Cascada's first full length album Everytime We Touch in 2006. Everytime We Touch proved to be immensely successful, selling over three million units worldwide. The album is notable for being one of the most popular eurodance albums to be released in America; many credit Natalie Horler's beauty and the group's energy during live performances as the act's primary selling points. Everytime We Touch produced six new singles, including "Everytime We Touch" and "Truly, Madly, Deeply". Cascada released their second album Perfect Day in Europe in 2007, also on Robbins Entertainment. Featuring singles "What Hurts the Most" and "I Will Believe It" alongside covers of artists like Pink and Avril Lavigne. Following aggressive tours throughout 2007 and into 2008, Cascada released Perfect Day in the United States and Canada in early 2008.Cascada is comprised of singer Natalie Horler and two German DJs and producers, Yanou and DJ Manian.
